Re-writes, new numbers, additional lyrics and restructuring continued for almost two years until for the first time all parties met face to face in Chicago to witness a rehearsed reading organised by theatre producer Kary Walker. At Kary's instigation faces were put to names for the first time. Enthusiastic discussion followed the reading and a shopping list was drawn up for new writing.

A workshop production was set up to take place in London with a full cast working with the newly assigned creative team. Joining David Taylor was Gillian Gregory best known for her award winning choreography (both sides of the Atlantic) for Me And My Girl along with Chris Walker as musical supervisor and orchestrator who brought with him a wealth of successes in musical theatre both sides of the world.

The Victoria Palace Theatre was rented whilst it was dark in January of 1998 and after two weeks rehearsals the writing team arrived en masse.

After a successful gathering of minds later in 1998 a concert version was held in Brighton with a full cast and a seventeen piece orchestra. This was the first time an audience witnessed the material in any form. The reaction was incredible from both critics and audience alike. It was obvious that the next step was to proceed to a full production as soon as possible.

The show encapsulated every element it should, from horror to glamour, from black comedy to melodrama, from joy to sorrow.....this musical promises so much and delivers with panache.
